Maybe you will be much more happy with sftp 
http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=sftp&sektion=1 which is part of 
OpenSSH which is available on OpenSolaris too. It's more appropriate tool for 
your case (transfer of data from home PC over Internet to work PC).
