I have now fixed this issue myself. As I reported earlier, I loaded OpenSolaris using an IPS I built on Nevada 127 and then loaded opensolaris into a new disk partition. My problem was that the ssh setup had not fully initialised and made the hosts keys etc. So, I touched /etc/.UNCONFIGURED and I also ran sysidconfig -a /lib/svc/method/sshd I then rebooted, had to effectively re-supply some initialisation info I had given before, but then it created the ssh keys etc and after the reboot had finished I could then merrily log in from elsewhere with ssh. The things I drew on when getting this SunBlade 100 going on OpenSolaris are listed below.
