SVR4 package patches aren't supported on OpenSolaris 200x systems. The only supported way to install the latest version of Sun Studio is to use the pkg(1) command like this: pfexec pkg install sunstudio12u1 If you do that, please be certain that you remove all of the existing SVR4 SunStudio packages first if you installed them using pkgadd.
