A data cable is usually a consumer term meaning a serial cable that plugs into an RS232c 9-pin D-Sub port on a machine and a special 'data port' on a remote device such as a serial modem from way back when!! Now a days the term is referred to a USB (high speed serial) device that uses either the USB 1 or 2 protocol and connects to a PDA, cell phone or any kind of remote I/O capable device.....
If plugged into a cell phone the other end of the USB 'data cable' will be coupled to a proprietary connector on the other end and allows for high-speed data transfers of either X or Z modem capabilities or newer high speed equivalents. Hope that helps with the background :-) Regards, Kaya On 02/15/10 06:58, Anon Y Mous wrote: > What kind of cable is a "data-cable"?
