I can assure you, the author didn't intentionally write the bug ;-)

That being said... tt will continue to be in there until build 26 which
is the build it was fixed in.  We made the decision to leave this bug in
our source deliveries, as they exactly mirrour the state of our internal
source.

We start to get into a dangerous/time-consuming game if I have to start
patching up the source deliveries for known bugs.  It also makes a
headache for when we sync up the source-delivery gate with the ONNV gate
if we've got special patches in it for the external community and not
for the internal.
