What if I am far away from my server and I need to install extra Solaris Software ( I thik the exact term is bundled software for SUNW* packages). Which is exactly my case. I want to install those packages required my system at home. I want to compile JDS but since I haven't installed that bundled softwares I have no way to install it because I can only ssh to my home system.

Having an ftp or http system also helps to install Solaris directly from FTP sites around globe. I mainly come from Open Source world that is why I want something like that. But since Solaris is ``Open'' know that will be requested by more users as the time goes by.

Fair point, but I can see problems with inconsistent versions and patches.

Not really, everything is on the CDs, which you have used to do the basic install. What is there to be gained by an ftp site?

I am sure that I haven't installed all packages. But isn't it nice if we have a ftp or http site to install that missing packages? Just like other
Open Source projects..

Hi,

Is there a repository (ftp, http or rsync) that I can install Solaris packages from?

Yes, your install CDs. Maybe you didn't do a full install?

I'm not sure which CDs these will be on, but they will be there.

Ian.
