No - rather yes, you should allocate a swap partition.
There are as many views on disk layout as there are Solaris admins!
On a server I tend to give / and /opt 8Gb, and /export/home the rest of
the drive, desktops I use an 8Gb /, /export/home the rest of the drive.
One advantage of splitting the file systems is it makes Live Upgrade
more manageable.
