If ScreenSaver is just missing from menu....add "/usr/openwin/bin" to PATH.
You didn't really need to create the Solaris 10 partiton using Partitiion Commander. Just free up the desired diskspace by shrinking the Windows partition(s). Solaris install will create the Solaris partition for you from the unused disk space. Something must have gone wrong during the install (for hostname to be UNKNOWN)...Did you perhaps edit /etc/hosts, /etc/inet/ipnodes/, /etc/nodename trying to connect to the internet? Are you using JDS Desktop? Problems with hostname can really mess with gnome-session initializaton times. Did you "auto-mount" user home directory? If yes, this will also cause problems if hostname change has occurred from editing system configuration files, or a sys-unconfig. It should only take about 30 minutes to re-install OpenSolaris x86....which would probably be quicker than tracking down all the possible hostname corruption events.
