At the GRUB boot menu: 1) Push 'e' (assuming Solaris is default) 2) With the arrow keys, navigate to the "kernel" line 3) Push 'e' again 4) Add "-s" to this line, and hit return 5) Push 'b' to boot This will boot you to single user mode, skipping everything X.
