I am new to Solaris 10 and am working on building an experimental image on an
X86 platform to test some Identity Management software. The install of Solaris
went perfectly.

I am having some issues that I don't know how to address since I am not the
knowledgable administratively about Solaris. The software that I am working
with requires DNS, I have a windows 2003 DNS server up and running. The UNIX
based software I am working with uses nslookup to qualify the hostname, when I
run nslookup from the command line for example using the DNS server fully
qualifed name it returns the expected values. If I use just the host name
nslookup fails with a SERVFAIL. If I do it with the IP address it returns the
fully qualified name. The only way it shows the right value is with the ip or
fqdn. How can I get OS to return just the hostname?
