Hi, ZFS use EFI label, the reserved slice 8 should not be removed if you still want to use EFI. If you want to use VTOC label, do this:
# format -e select the disk which you want to change label, and then select "label", chose "0" (SMI Label), and confirm you selection. Hope this helps.
