Hi,

I have a working release 69 i86 system using a zfs boot partition, built using
Timf's excellent script. I'd like to be able to run this headless, but I'm
having a problem with booting.

I've edited /rootpool/boot/grub/menu.lst to add 'console=ttya' to the zfs and
failsafe boot options. I've commented out the splash screen and uncommented the
entries to allow grub to display on a console. eeprom settings have
console=ttya plus the necessary entries for ttya-mode and ttya-ignorecd.

The system will boot fine with keyboard mouse and monitor attached, and flips
to serial console output when it reaches grub stage 2 . I can then disconnect
the keyboard, mouse and monitor and it continues to run quite happily, allowing
a command line login at the console.

If I boot with keyboard, mouse and monitor disconnected, no output appears on
the serial console. Mobo is an MSI K8T NEO-F which is recently modern and as
far as I know should support booting without a monitor connected.

I've obviously missed something really obvious here, but I can't find anything
in the documentation that explains what I have neglected to do. Cany anyone
help?

Kind regards,

Pete
