I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 530. I was trying to install Solaris 11
build 75 on it. It took
considerable permutations to finally make it work.

There are four USB ports on the back of the box. The USB keyboard and mouse
must be connected
to the lower two USB ports. The upper two USB ports are EHCI ports and have
some issues while installing.

If I boot the box after the machine completely cools down, it just hangs while
booting up! But, if I
force shutdown and boot immediately, Solaris comes up in 50 seconds! Looks
like some
components needs to be heated up for it to work.

Sometimes while booting it freezes for 120 seconds then gives lots of USB
errors and then
boots up. Looks like there is a timeout of 120 seconds somewhere.

Every time I have edited the grub to give '-v' option, the system comes up
without any issues.

If I give acpi-user-options = 2, then most of the time it does not have issues.
 Sometimes it has.

Belenix with acpi-user-options=2 boots without any issues. But Belenix is
build 63 I believe...

All these hangs occur before loading kmdb. Couldn't even collect a thread
list...

With different behaviour on every reboot, its a bit difficult to nail down any
of the issues. I'm not
an ACPI or USB expert....
