OK - I have changed the partition type to MBR and then installation works fine.
By the way I installed from scratch without using Apples Boot Manager. I just put a new drive in (after partitioning it with OS X Disk Utility) and installed off DVD. Not network or WiFi drivers it seems. I was hoping to be able to boot off USB drive but the MacBook does not seem to recognise the drive as a bootable one when connected via USB. Anyway - time to find some network/wifi drivers so if anyone knows which ones will work with the MacBook please let me know... Any idea if they will ever be included on the Solaris installation ?
