Hi Gary,

I have installed Solaris Express and it shows rge0 interface when I select
Launch > Administration > Network. I have an ADSL modem-router connected to the
network card and it has the 192.168.1.1 address. It works as a gateway pretty
well when I'm under Windows, but pinging it from under Solaris results in the
"Unreachable host" error message. I have a Realtek RTL 8168/8111 CI-E Gigabit
Ethernet NIC integrated into my Gigabyte motherboard. I also tried downloading
the gani 2.4.4 driver from the Web page you specified in your message. I
compiled the driver and installed it, but the gani interface could not attach
to my network card. scanpci gave me the following output:

pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x1f function 0x05: vendor 0x8086 device 0x2926
 Intel Corporation Device unknown

[there are many entries like the above one, so I'm not listing them here]

pci bus 0x0001 cardnum 0x00 function 0x00: vendor 0x10de device 0x0402
 nVidia Corporation Device unknown

pci bus 0x0003 cardnum 0x00 function 0x00: vendor 0x197b device 0x2363
JMicron Technologies, Inc. JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller

pci bus 0x0004 cardnum 0x00 function 0x00: vendor 0x10ec device 0x8168
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device unknown

Can you or anyone else suggest me a way to follow to make my network card and
router good friends? :-) Thank you for your attention.

I'm not sure this info is needed, just in case, the configuration of the
network:
Static IP : 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
