Which contradicts the experts in this thread (and my actual experience); the docs you quote seem to claim that SUPATH in /etc/default/login *will* be used, and it isn't.
(1989 is back to the point where I was actually administering a couple of Solaris boxes, incidentally to my software engineering work. But I was away from it from 1997 or some such until last year when I put up my own Solaris box, and it's changed so much since then that the few things I *have* remembered have mostly lead me astray.)
