I can add that I have the same issue with Solaris 10u3 and OpenSolaris b77 under VMWare ESX 3.0.1/3.0.2 servers located at a customer's site.
It only happens during remote support over a slow leased line (128kbit max) though, in both VI Client and in Web Client, and I don't recall such problems while I was on-location and used the consoles within a LAN environment. I'd rather believe it's a VMWare bug, but who knows. Typing slower with more discrete keypresses helps often, but not always.
