I gave it a try. Once I found a video in a format the player can handle (an .rm file), it played back nicely, both audio and video. This is using the on-board audio with default drivers (didn't install OSS). I've a separate video card, though (some NVIDIA board). I remember I had some problems with audio initially, but back then I had an additional sound card installed. Since I reinstalled without that one, audio works fairly well, as far as I can tell.
