If the system keeps hangs, try a console install vs a GUI, on the dvd command line ttinstall should work. follows the same q's as the GUI.
Also if you want to request any of those features, submit a RFE at http://www.opensolaris.org/bug/report.jspa and also include with the /var/adm/messages the /var/log/Xorg.0.log , prtdiag -v , # Make and Model no of MB, prtconf -pv ; cat /etc/release ; uname -a ; /usr/X11/bin/scanpci -v . Another side effect issue, you might have is the change resolution is very limited to 3 screen sizes.
