This issue is consistent and reproducible. I have 4 SATA drives (ZFS Pool) and
1 IDE Drive (Solaris) on my system, and I've noticed that every time the system
boots (That is, once I've selected Solaris from the GRUB menu and pressed enter
and the kernel starts to load) I can actually hear the IDE drive lose power and
then be powered back on again (Can hear the heads stop and then spinup again,
within the span of about a second). It's like a hiccup, the drive seems to lose
power or something only for a second and then continues to operate fine. I've
tried several IDE drives and they all act in the same way. I'm using an ASUS
M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard. Has anyone else seen behavior like this with an IDE
drive? The SATA drives don't seem to suffer from this issue. I'm not sure
whether it's an issue with Solaris or my IDE controller.
