I installed the flash plugin from
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
then visited CNN, and it still didn't work.
So, I installed the user-agent-switcher plugin for Firefox :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59
and told it to report my browser as "Netscape 4.8 under Windows Vista",
and then reloaded the video window on cnn.com and the video appeared
fine!
This suggests something on CNN's side that doesn't want to accept
OpenSolaris as a valid client.
