Essentially, yes you can copy it from Linux . If you have a Linux installed on the same hardware most of the file would be identical. Xorg is using the same config in Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris. You do need to check the GPU driver name . Also the same text based configuring tool is available in Linux freebsd and Solaris /usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig Solaris has Xorg Autoconfig , so unless you need some extra functionality ( as of right now ) you dont need a /etc/X11/xorg.conf in Solaris.
