I dont think this stuff came with solaris.
Some one has added it to the system to provide security enhancement.
Better ask the guy who installed it
You can always boot a solaris system with a -s argument
to boot the system in single usermode.
You do that on a SPARC SERVER in the by pressing keys [STOP] +[A]
immediatley before the servers starts to boot the kernel.
then type
> boot -s
on Intel Solaris 8 there is a messeage on screen while booting that says
someting to the context of " press key to change boot options "
So you press the key sequens and then type
-s
and contiinue.
After you have started in Singel user mode . give the root password
and
go in and investigate the problem.
