I see. That's what I surely will try in order to build the 4.4.2
version, let's hope and see.

I'll give these packages a try at first, thanks very much for pointing
me there. Actually, querying the IPS repositories there _is_ an XFCE out
there, but this (according to the binaries inside) is just as old as
version 3.something; not quite what I want these days. ;)

Anyway, thanks again, having XFCE around is one of the essentials before
doing more with desktop OS... :)
