There are ample resources available from this page that discuss varieties of boot options. Opensolaris and Ubuntu (and windoze) can all live happily together if you plan ahead. Separate disks help. Opensolaris is a challenge. It's friendlier than solaris but a bear compared to Ubuntu. Not really a "consumer" os quite yet. Faire attention.
