Either:
1) Boot off the SXCE install DVD/CD after you download & burn it
and then select the Upgrade option instead of inital install
when it asks.
or
2) Use Live Upgrade, with the alternate boot environment that the
SXDE partition layout should have set aside for it.
There should be docs on docs.sun.com covering both cases.
