Sorry this is long.  It's a sad story.  I spent several days setting up 
openSolaris on a Sony Vaio lap-top model VGN-FZ140N.  It worked great until on 
a whim I decided to enable the whizzy Visual Effects from Preference -> 
Appearance.  This is supposed to show a panoramic view of the four screens when 
you move the cursor to the top left corner.  It had worked before.  Now, it 
hangs up the system - nada - frozen - power off time.  Worse, when I reboot, it 
comes up frozen.  If I reboot to the failsafe GNOME, it comes up working, but 
a. it doesn't give me access to the visual effects, and b. it also locks up if 
I put the cursor in the top left.  I can get it stable in the console only 
mode, but have no idea from there what to fix. I really don't feel like 
re-doing the installation from scratch if there is a good alternative.
