Dude, AFAIK, unless someone spends quite a "lot" of time fixing all the deps, it's not gonna work right!
Either use SXCE (the classic OpenSolaris Sun distro) or go the OpenSolaris route. As a newbie you'd face a bit more problems with SXCE though. They have (usuall) GNU stuff in /usr/gnu, it's just that in OpenSolaris /usr/gnu/bin is in path first.
