I'm confused. I want to build a dual-boot system -- Ubuntu/OpenSolaris. in "Getting Started With OpenSolaris 2008.11: Preparing for a Multiboot Environment" it says:
Note - If you are installing the OpenSolaris OS on a multiboot system that also contains the Linux OS, the Solaris partition must precede the Linux swap partition. and in the "Partitioning a Multiboot System it says: Linux-swap is the same partition ID that Solaris uses. During the installation, in the disk partitioning step, you can change this Linux-swap partition to a Solaris partition. fdisk on my system shows: Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00043a92 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 1216 9767488+ 83 Linux /dev/sda2 9363 9727 2931862+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda3 1217 9362 65432745 83 Linux /dev/sda4 9728 19457 78156225 5 Extended /dev/sda5 9728 10578 6835626 83 Linux /dev/sda6 10946 19457 68372608+ 83 Linux My Ubuntu uses /dev/sda1 for / and /dev/sda3 for /home. I am planning to coalesce /dev/sda4, /dev/sda5, and /dev/sda6 for my OpenSolaris partition. Do I need a swap for OpenSolaris? If so, do I need to move it to start at 19093 and end at 19457? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
