Apparently since 2009.06 is based on build 111b, it doesn't have the latest sound device driver bits (code named "Boomer"). Garret D'Amore says that he thinks the problem might be solved when you either eventually upgrade to build 117 (which incorporates the new "Boomer" sound driver bits he wrote) or when he makes a tarball with the Boomer bits available at his web site:
