I looked up what you told me to look up and found that the links to download the Solaris versions are Forbidden. I suppose that is it for Azureus.
You wouldn't happen to know how I could take some source code, say like for Gnote and use Sun Studio to compile it. I haven't had any luck in the terminal with gcc so I thought I would try something else.
Where can I find some Java applications that will run in Solaris, not just web
apps either but full applications.
Have you tried installing the SUNWswt package and then running Azureus?
You may need to fix up classpaths (at worst). I can't confirm this
works, but this is where I would start.
As Tao Chen mentioned already, SWT isn't installed by default with the
JRE. Theoretically, you'll have it if you install the SUNWswt package,
and I suspect you'll have 95%+ of Java apps covered this way (I only
know of one other app that uses SWT -- Eclipse).
If worse comes to worse, you can look in to the alternate distribution
channels for packages -- OpenCSW and Blastwave. The later, at least,
has IPS support, so you should have little trouble installing. I also
would be surprised if you have much trouble over and above downloading
Java programs, unarchiving them, and just running them. That you ran
into trouble with Azureus is unfrotunate, but I believe that's an
exceptional case.
I do know SWT has been, historically, a hit-or-miss thing on
(Open)Solaris. I am pretty confident with a little elbow grease, you
can get SWT built by hand if that package doesn't do the trick. If you
have success getting Azureus to work after installing SUNWswt, do us a
huge favor and report back?
