Hi Legacy,
If you want to assume root role after logging in, you should run
commands that need root privilege with pfexec prefixed to it.
If you want to login as root, then do the following,
# rolemod -K /type=normal root/
Type the above command once you are logged in as your normal user and
assume root role via pfexec bash.
This make the root a normal user and allows you to login as root through
the gdm login.
A logout/login after typing the command would do.

However it says to login as root. There isn't a root password in opensolaris
right? If I login with my username which has the root role it doesn't let me
configure anything. I am only able to view the status and documentation etc...
No ability to change anything.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
