I'm using OpenSolaris 2009.06 -111. I've got 2 HDDs and they are
partitioned/sliced as follows.
hdd0 120GB OpenSolaris - entire disk default install partitioning
hdd1 500GB Windows XP/Windows 7/LinuxMint 6
/sda1 30GB WinXP
/sda5 7GB NTFS
/sda6 200GB NTFS
/sda7 40GB Win7
/sda8 4GB ext3
/sda9 7GB ext3
/sda10 5GB ext3
/sda11 10GB ext3
/sda12 3GB ext3
/sda13 111GB ext3
I installed Windows XP, then Win 7, then LinuxMint, Then Open Solaris. (Or
maybe Open Solaris then LinuxMint). Either way, Open Solaris put a grub on the
first disk, and LinuxMint put a grub on the second disk. No complaints from me
on having 2 grubs.
Here's the probem. I can boot OpenSolaris from its Grub menu just fine. And if
I remember correctly, I can boot Linuxmint from the OpenSolaris Grub menu,
though I usually don't. But if I boot either Windows from the grub on hdd0, it
crashes. However, if I press the correct key during POST, and select the second
HDD to boot from, then select Windows from the grub that LinuxMint installed,
either Windows boots OK. Also LM6 boots fine from its grub menu. I tried
selecting different partitions from the 1st grub menu, but it never liked
anything I tried. Here are the menu.lst's file from OS, and from LM6

I tried with & without the lines commented out.
