Good Morning All, I have backed up my system onto different media. I have the system ready to go.
For an old disabled Vietnam Vet, this is a big plunge from Linux to OpenSolaris. I will NOT need to install windows if: Q: I can get either VMWare Server, or VMWare Workstation, w/directx support. Will OpenSolaris handle this? There are two flight sims that are known to work on the VMWare platform that don't on the latest VirtualBox (my personal favorite Vm manager) Q: How does Solaris handle being installed on an SSD? Are there tweaks I can make to the installed system to lower the write cycle to preserve the drive. AKA in linux terms, I have 8 GB of ram, going x64, can I turn off any "swap like" features. Sincerely and respectfully, Dave PS: If the answers are right, the port begins tonight. If OpenSolaris is tough on SSD's please tell me. I have a 500GB rotating media I can put it on instead of SSD. One way or another, I am going to port. Just trying to get my brain wrapped around it before I do. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
