Good evening/morning ladies and gentlemen,

I think it's best to sketch my situation a bit: My company had some
years back hired a consulting company to set up a new infrastructure
"and stuff" :) Well both, the consultants as well as the deciding people
here screwed up: Company was asking for the super duper features nobody
needed, consultants couldn't even fulfill basic requirements. Well at
the moment, we have two fileservers, which lack a lot of performance. As
Solaris is said to perform a lot better, we decided to migrate both
machines to OpenSolaris. One of the machines has a tape library attached
with a software being officially support with Solaris, so the decision
was easy.

But what I absolutely forgot to look for was the Sata-Raid-Controller
built in both machines! They're 3ware 9550s and are not recognized by
the install routine.

So I googled and looked all over. The 3ware page says yes, supported.
Some sources say it's supported by 2008.11. The HCL doesn't say anything
useful :(

So are those cards supported and if so, where's the driver?

If not, what's (from an objective point of view) the best to do? Avoid
Solaris and revert back to CentOS or whatever? (me no like) Buy a new
Raid-Card? (boss no like)

TIA

Patrick
