I have a bit more information to add. After doing some poking around withing
HP's array configuration utility I noticed that each of the second two MSA20
chassis had duplicate "Disk Name:" entries which were reusing the same disk
names that were already in use in the first two chassis.
e.g.:
In the first chassis there is a "RAID-0" with the following configuration
details:
Array: A
Interface Type: SATA
Unused Space: 0 MB
Status: OK
Logical Drive: 1
Size: 698.6 GB
Fault Tolerance: RAID 0
Heads: 255
Sectors Per Track: 63
Cylinders: 65535
Stripe Size: 128 KB
Status: OK
Array Accelerator: Enabled
Unique Identifier: 600508B3008712F0A02CE1E1C1220001
Preferred Controller Chassis Slot: 2
Disk Name: /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
Mount Points: None
Logical Drive Label: A02CE1E1PAAACAFMQXPI0OC122
physicaldrive 1:1
Box: 1
Bay: 1
Status: OK
Drive Type: Data Drive
Interface Type: SATA
Size: 750 GB
Firmware Revision: HPG8
Serial Number: 9QK2F9CN
Model: HP GB0750EAFJK
SATA NCQ Capable: False
In the third chassis there is a "RAID-0" with the following configuration
details:
Array: A
Interface Type: SATA
Unused Space: 0 MB
Status: OK
Logical Drive: 1
Size: 698.6 GB
Fault Tolerance: RAID 0
Heads: 255
Sectors Per Track: 32
Cylinders: 65535
Stripe Size: 128 KB
Status: OK
Array Accelerator: Enabled
Unique Identifier: 600508B300858330AB339C51E0A30019
Preferred Controller Chassis Slot: 2
Disk Name: /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
Mount Points: None
Logical Drive Label: AB339C51PAAACAEMQVKB7WE0A3
physicaldrive 1:1
Box: 1
Bay: 1
Status: OK
Drive Type: Data Drive
Interface Type: SATA
Size: 750 GB
Firmware Revision: HPG1
Serial Number: 5QK077YX
Model: HP GB0750C8047
SATA NCQ Capable: False
Note that the entry "Disk Name: /dev/dsk/c4t0d0" is identical for both disks
which are otherwise distinct. Does anybody who is familiar with the 'hpacucli"
utility know how this field is set? Is it just passed through from OpenSolaris
as I suspect? If so, do you have any suggestions as to how I might configure
the OS to associate the device with a different disk name?
Thanks again in advance!
cheers,
Gabriel
