I've been trying to get OpenSolaris installed on a V100. I've been using the information at :
http://sstallion.blogspot.com/2009/07/installing-opensolaris-200906-on-sparc.html But given the age of the post, there might not be anybody paying attention. So I'll post my issue here. But I'm having trouble with the wanboot. Now, I'm not exactly in a 'basic' configuration. I'm using a Linux box (RHEL based) as my DHCP server, and have OpenSolaris installed on a VirtualBox setup as the install server. (I followed the instructions at http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/dev/AIinstall/setup.html, and went the advanced route). Rather than boot from the disk, I have a rarp/tftp setup to serve the wanboot image via the net. So from OBP, I do: ok boot net -o prompt - install This goes along fine, and I get to the wanboot prompt. I setup the host-ip, etc just fine and type 'go', and I get the usual startup messages. It then bails with 'network unreachable' (as expected) and I drop into maintenance mode. Now here is where I am having trouble similar to what JohnR posted on the first link. I try to setup the dmfe0 interface, but DHCP fails. I see the DHCP requests, and my DHCP server responds. But the interface fails to get configured. I even tried configuring it manually, but nothing. root:@~# ifconfig -a plumb root:@~# ifconfig -a dmfe0: flags=1000842<BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 6 inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0 ether 0:3:ba:16:85:f3 dmfe1: flags=1000802<BROADCAST,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 7 inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0 ether 0:3:ba:16:85:f4 root:@~# ifconfig dmfe0 dhcp And nothing happens. Looking at my DHCP server, I see the requests and the responses. But nothing comes back. From my DHCP log: Dec 9 16:31:16 wilma dnsmasq[9317]: DHCPDISCOVER(eth0) 00:03:ba:16:85:f3 Dec 9 16:31:16 wilma dnsmasq[9317]: DHCPOFFER(eth0) 192.168.0.60 00:03:ba:16:85:f3 But on the Sun, nothing. In fact, the status gives: root@:~# ifconfig dmfe0 dhcp status Interface State Sent Recv Declined Flags dmfe0 SELECTING 5 0 0 So, anybody have any ideas? Or even luck on a V100 or Netra X1?
