I've installed the software after following the Wiki entries concerning Motif libraries. However I'm noticing a strange behavior while compiling the Oracle binaries; when it hits the 'oracle' binary linking it takes an extraordinary amount of time (>20 minutes) to just link!! It does complete without issues and I'm able to run Oracle as well.
While it was linking I traced the 'ld' command and find that it gets 'stuck' with the 'mmap' system call leading to the slow compilation. We had a similar situation on Solaris 10 Update 5 on a Sun M5000. The circumstances were slightly different: for certain SQL the execution times were extraordinarily long and the sessions were stuck in the 'mmap' calls. My environment is 'OpenSolaris 2009.06 snv_111b X86' on a desktop machine with 2GB of memory.
