Before it started to ask for the user id and password, did you get the menu prompt asking for the language used for installation and the keyboard layout? When it aborts the installation before asking for installation language and keyboard layout, the problem is most likely that the system is unable to find and mount the LiveCD optical media (e.g. misssing or broken device driver for the optical drive). And in case it aborts after prompting for language and keyboard layout, the problem is most likely an unsupported video device (so that Xorg is unable to start). > No matter what I type here i get an > error.
