When the ethernet cable is unplugged from a laptop, the wifi interface is automatically activated with a different IP address.
Is there any way of making other machines on the network recognize multiple IP addresses for a particular machine? At present I list the IP addresses and hostnames for all of the machines on my network in the /etc/hosts file. This system worked fine when each machine had only one IP address, ie. before I added laptops to the network. Now I manually comment/uncomment a particular IP address/hostname depending on which interface that particular host is using (ethernet or wifi). Is there an easier way to achieve this?
