None of the methods mentioned in that thread worked for me; I had been using restart to reboot the whole time, I had already switched it to boot in text mode and the update-archive didn't seem to help anything.
I tried the live CD in another system I have (haven't switched that one over to the dev repository on the package manager yet) and that one boots fine, so I am wondering if there is some reason why my first system is just not compatible with latest OpenSolaris. Is there a list of hardware that they have dropped support for in this release?
