Here are a few of the things I've tried: 1) Since the pool I can't mount appears rather conveniently in the file browser I tried some of the right click options there. Mount obviously didn't work. Neither did rename. Gives me the error message "Sorry couldn't rename rpool to rpool_old. Not supported by back end." Presumably this is at least because I'm not running the file browser as root. No surprises there.
2) Renaming the existing rpool to something else so it won't confict with the old rpool when I plug it in. #zfs rename rpool rpool_lame This looks to me just like the usage from the zfs admin guide at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5461/gavwq?l=en&a=view However, it just gives me the error message "Can't create rpool_lame: missing dataset name".
