Hi,

I have a new system on which I am trying to install OS, build 134, from the
live CD. The motherboard has the Intel C3539, 4 core, processor with an
integrated I/O hub which is pretty new.

The motherboard only has a couple of USB ports (no PS2) and they seem to "go
away" right after the grub menu during the boot which effectively stops the
boot and cuts off the keyboard as both the keyboard and cdrom are USB based.

I have the keyboard, mouse and CDROM plugged into a powered USB hub which is
plugged into one of the two available USB root ports off the back of the
motherboard.

During the BIOS bootstrap and right up through the GRUB menu the "Enabled" LEDs
on the USB hub stay lit and the keyboard and CDROM work fine as I can get to
and enter the Grub menu and even edit the boot script.

But about 3 seconds after I select the boot image and hit enter I see the LEDs
on the hub go off then a second or so later they briefly flash on and back off
and then they stay off.... Almost always.

Once in a while if I play with the keyboard just as that second flash of the
LEDs occurs I can get the USB LEDs to stay on at which point the OS LIVE image
completes its boot to the desktop and the keyboard and mouse work within the
booted image

After playing around like this for a while I eventually got OS, build 134,
installed on a SATA device but the USB behavior is just as flaky when booting
straight to the SATA image, though the image always boots unlike the CD, since
it is on the SATA device.

When booting the SATA image I always get to the login prompt but the keyboard
and mouse don't work because the USB ports are dead.

If I play with the keyboard during the boot sequence I can sometimes (like 1 in
40 tries) get the ports to stay lit and then the keyboard and mouse work at the
login prompt.

I am betting the PCI IDs of the integrated I/O hub may be confusing the driver
load process and consequently the USB driver does not get loaded but this is
just a guess.

Some suggestions on where I might begin looking would be greatly appreciated.
