I am making this a new thread as most of he stuff in my previous post is not relevant any more. I shrank my NTFS partition from XP using a windows partition software and was unable to boot. I can boot into osol now using findroot /boot/grub/menu.lst and then follow with the commands from menu.lst
HOWEVER, WinXP will not boot using the commands in menu.lst in general I would like to see the usual menu and be able to boot XP or osol. more specific: what device should I give to installgrub?? this is what I see from fdisk Total disk size is 60800 cylinders Cylinder size is 16065 (512 byte) blocks Cylinders Partition Status Type Start End Length % ========= ====== ============ ===== === ====== === 1 Other OS 0 0 1 0 2 IFS: NTFS 21568 32035 10468 17 3 Active Solaris2 32036 33994 1959 3 4 EXT LBA 1 19241 19241 32 bootadm update-archive did not change anything. I still got the grub> prompt. it seems it is not able to find stage2. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
