I have the latest OpenSolaris on a server. 12 disks in a pool.
Today I decided to replace a (working) 500GB disk, so I pulled the SATA cable
to see how ZFS would react. It froze. Weird. I really had the impression that
ZFS would be able to handle things like that?
Anyway, I removed the disk and rebooted. Worked fine, and ZFS reported that the
disk was unavailable and the pool was offline.
Shutdown again, replaced the 500GB disk with a brand new 1.5TB disk and started.
OpenSolaris would get to grub and I selected the boot environment and the
progress bar came up and at the first step it rebooted...
Same thing every time. As soon as a bit of orange shows in the progress bar it
reboots.
I took out the 1.5TB disk. Same problem. Put back the 500GB disk. Same problem.
No matter what I do I can't get it to work. And that's where I am now.
Please advice!?
Boot of the install media and try importing the pool and export it
before rebooting.
If you want to see what's going on during boot, remove the
",console=graphics" from the kernel$ line in /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst
