Tillie, If you look at menu_viewer.xml in the StarLight viewer skin - see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_Skins/Starlight - you should find the answer to points 1 and 3 as I think that does what you are trying to do (and I had trouble with the [COST} strings as well at first).. In answer to point 2 - it should be possible but it is easier popping it into the navigation bar, the control you need is 'WLEastAngle'.
