You can easily launch the SL viewer using your customized advanced settings (no need to manually tweak them) by creating one (or more) specific desktop icons or menu entries, where the viewer is called with your favorite settings. AFAIK, all Debug Settings can be set this way before logging in - just add "-set SettingName SETTINGVALUE". This will work even if a setting is not session-persistant.
