It's based off of viewer-development and we're tracking it closely, so we do not expect there to be significant merge problems.
The changes are being wrangled part of one of those few projects that we are not doing completely in the open, and I can't comment further on the "why" of that. That said, I can state that the changes are pretty mundane and won't suddenly appear in a production viewer without going through viewer-development first - they'll land there just like any other patches and work their way through the normal release process. -- Josh
