Thank you, Boroondas. First, the grand news, once autobuild.xml was repaired I was able to build a functioning viewer! Hurray!
I actually have been using Mercurial to retrieve the source tree for some long time, however, when I pulled news sources several months previous it led to the aforementioned situation. The major change, aside from using an alternate account, was to use autobuild to produce the Xcode project from whence I conducted my final build.
