Thank you, Boroondas.  First, the grand news, once autobuild.xml was
repaired I was able to build a functioning viewer!  Hurray!

I actually have been using Mercurial to retrieve the source tree for
some long time, however, when I pulled news sources several months
previous it led to the aforementioned situation.  The major change,
aside from using an alternate account, was to use autobuild to produce
the Xcode project from whence I conducted my final build.  Perhaps
time will be found in which I can examine the differences between the
old and the new to determine where things run afoul, but for the
moment it is happiness to simply have a method to banish the grey goo
from my display :-)
