you should tweak the crypto/sha/sha_local.h to have:
#elif defined(__GNUC__) && !defined(PEDANTIC) && defined(SHA1_ASM)
/* some inline assembler templates by <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> */

to avoid problems with gcc installations without gas.
